Erik Gagnon, LISAC

Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor

Hello! I’m Erik, a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor with 20+ years of experience treating not only substance use issues, but also a wide range of mental health concerns, such as depression and anxiety.

I have spent the majority of my career treating adolescents, individual adults, and families for local non-profit organizations. I specialize in working with those who may be experiencing addiction issues as well as family and relational conflicts. I am a father of two which has taught me much about the practical application of parenting and relationships!

I have worked in a number of different settings - residential facilities, outpatient clinics, short and long term detention centers, hospitals - and have treated a wide range of mental health conditions ranging from Serious Mental Illness to circumstantial and transitional issues. There is no challenge too big or too small. I believe we are all doing our best with the tools we have been given, and that we have the ability to increase our skill set and ask for help.

I work to create a non-judgmental, relaxed, and humorous environment centered on the client-therapist relationship. I offer a collaborative approach in working with individuals and families and can also offer practical solutions. I believe in the importance of helping my clients gain self awareness as an essential strategy for personal growth.

I was born outside of Boston, Massachusetts yet I’ve managed to lose the accent after 25 years living in the Valley! I’m a huge fan of movies, TV, books, and music… it’s very likely that I’ll quote a movie or song in our work together - sometimes profound and often ridiculous! I prioritize time at the gym, travel, and self care - so expect us to chat about work/life balance in session.
